Dr. Om Prakash Bhandari
MS, MRSH (London), FAIS

Dr. Om Prakash Bhandari, MS, MRSH (London), FAIS, is a Consultant Surgeon and Director of Dr. Bhandari Piles Hospital (Manish Nursing Home), Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, and Professor of Surgery at the Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Udaipur.

He completed his MBBS in 1976 and his MS in General Surgery in 1980, both at R.N.T. Medical College, Udaipur, and was elected a Member of the Royal Society of Health, London (MRSH) in 1984. He began his career in the Government of Rajasthan's medical service, before moving into academic surgery as Assistant Professor at NIMS Medical College, Jaipur, and Associate Professor at Pacific Medical College, Udaipur, prior to his appointment as Professor of Surgery at PIMS. He is currently also Honorary Consultant Surgeon at M.P. Birla Hospital and Research Centre.

He is a Founder Life Member of the Association of Colon & Rectal Surgeons of India (ACRSI No. 37) and a Life Member of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI No. 4020).

Over five decades of anorectal surgical practice, he has developed the OPB-MOLIS (Modified Open Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy) technique, refined over a single-surgeon case series of more than 350 patients with no recorded incontinence, and described fully in this manual alongside every standard operative approach a surgeon must know.

This manual, A Surgeon's Clinical Manual of Anorectal Disease, is a practical, working companion to Dr. Bhandari's earlier volume, A Surgeon's History of Anorectal Disease, which traces the subject from antiquity to the present day. Together, the two books bring the same combination the author has carried through his career: a surgeon's attention to technique, and a historian's curiosity about how that technique came to be.
